0% Interest Loan Program

With Liberia having one of the lowest per-capita incomes in the world, the Moniba Foundation recognizes how critical it is for professionals and the working class to access both short- and long-term financing.
Our goal is to provide thousands of hardworking Liberians, especially those in key but low-paying sectors that sustain our economy and society, with the capital they need to thrive.

To make these loans more impactful, we lend exclusively to collectives or groups of women. We do not restrict how the borrowed money is used. Whether it’s to buy extra food for their families, pay school fees, cover medical bills, invest in a business, or secure housing — our purpose is to ensure that the economy works for all Liberians by meeting people at their point of need and opportunity.

We focus on supporting:

  • Nurses and Midwives

  • Teachers

  • Market Women

  • Petty Traders

Our program is a 0% interest loan initiative, where women’s collective groups not only repay the exact amount they borrow, but are also re-awarded the principal amount with an additional 10% incentive for on-time repayment. In this way, we are not only providing access to finance but also reinforcing responsibility, while increasing the amount of money available to the groups.
Alongside the loans, we conduct financial literacy training for each collective group to ensure that women have the tools to manage, grow, and sustain their resources effectively.

Impact to Date:
Since 2019, over 600 women have already benefited from this initiative, and the Foundation aims to have over $100,000 circulating in loans by the end of 2026, expanding access to finance and empowering more women across Liberia.
